History of Bhangarh Fort
Mainly two stories are depicting the history of Bhangrah Fort. Actually, this fort was built by King Madho Singh the younger brother of Man Singh. This fort was constructed after the approval from the ascetic Guru Balu Nath who is used to meditate here. Guru Balu Nath was promised by King that shadow of the fort not to fall on his spot. But King was failed to keep his promise and then the shadow of the fort touched his spot. Guru Balu Nath cursed the village will remain roofless. Even if a roof was built today it will fall soon after. This is one of the stories of Bhangarh Fort.
Another story of this Fort is about the curse of Tantrik Singhia. Tantrik Singhia was a local magician who fell in love with the Princess Ratnavati. He tried to win over the princess with his wicked magic tricks. But Ratnavati already knows the evil thoughts of Tantrik and she ordered to kill him. Tantrik Singhia also cursed that the village will remain roofless and no soul would reside there in peace.
These two stories are the reasons for this fort to become a haunted fort according to residents of that place. But however, this stories may be true or may not be. May be that’s why Bhangarh fort is famous as most haunted tourist place in India.
The architectural style of Bhangarh Fort
Bhangarh Fort was situated in between Alwar and Jaipur at the border of vast green Sariska Tiger Reserve. This fort is the symbol of the architectural style of the medieval city of Shahjahanabad. This fort consists four large and immense gates in every direction.
There is a beautiful waterfall in the premises of the fort, along with the temples. Overall this fort was destroyed but the remnants of this fort depict the glory of the fort, existing palaces inside the fort, etc. The architectural style of this fort is another wonder in Alwar region without thinking of haunted stories of this fort.
Bhangarh Fort at Night time
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) banned visitors and locals of the village not to enter the fort at night time. Because locals of the village claim that they are hearing ghost screams, a voice of women crying, bangles sound etc at night time. Even who dared to stay at night was not returned back all these reasons make the government ban this fort at night time. Mostly, no one dares to visit this fort at night.
In one word Bhangarh fort is the most haunted fort in Alwar city according to the reports and the stories of the locals of the villages.
Best time to visit Bhangarh Fort
Best time to visit this fort is from September to February. Because this region is too hot at summer times. So almost this city is not good to visit in summer.
Entry and Timings Bhangarh Fort
Timings: 6 AM to 6 PM and no one has to roam after 6 at the surroundings of this fort as per ASI’s orders.
Entry Fee: No entry fee for both Indians and Foreigners. But 25Rs fora camera.
How to Reach Bhangarh Fort
Bhangarh is situated in between Delhi and Jaipur. So you can reach by regular buses and taxis to Alwar city. Also have an option for luxury train.
